This worked flawlessly with Windows 8. I look forward to being able to use this on the go with my Mac using the card reader on Windows 10 through Parallels software and enjoying its ease of use! XD cards are no longer that popular, but I had a few with photos from my old camera. Stays square to the usb port. I nearly lost some very valuable footage I was transferring when it stopped mid-transfer. Are you dragging it up the side of a mountain or something?

Military Smart Card Reader:
The maker was very kind and offered a replacement. All in all pretty easy to install. I travel days per month and I do need to utilize my smartcard upon occasion and the Surface doesn’t have a reader built in. I have been using a more traditional style card reader for my military ID but one of my friends always bragged about their compact reader. I picked this up to replace a larger, bulkier cabled smartcard reader. I always am needing to get something printed off for work so this was a must for unclassified use of course, just incase NSA is reading this.
Nothing against that other smartcard reader, as it works well, but this one travels easier. No need to install shady drivers, like with other readers. Yes, I am sure most people who are getting this item realize where to look for the information on install but if not, look at MilitaryCAC.
I cafd let you know how it turns out. This can roll around in a back pack, for example. I didn’t have to download root certificates or multiple additional software to use this device. Getting it to work was a little tricky but I don’t think it was for any reason to do with the card reader itself. However, if I had to state a negative, it would be that the item came with no instructions. It has not failed me and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Wish I found this first than buying a bunch of anker readers. I normally take raw photos and this reader instantly loads the images as soon as I click on them. They have reached out to me nicely, which I greatly appreciate.
Hopefully this will last as much. I am corresponding with support. I’m Air Force and love owning one of these. Purchased to replace a 12 year old CAC reader that was shorting out.
